More on the Craft....
This page is for any extra info for people who are new to the Craft. This is just a touch of the MANY things to learn about the Craft. This overview is just so you'll have some VERY basic information. I highly reccommend that you buy at least one or two of the books listed below. The author Silver RavenWolf is very highly recommended.

Celebrations Other thant the full moon celebrations (Esbats), there are 8 magor Solar holidays (or Sabbats). I will go through these Sabbats one by one.

The 8 Sabbats represent seasonal birth, death, and rebirth. Here I will start with Yule, because it is the first celebration after the Witching New Years.

Yule (usually December 21 or 22): also known as Yuletide (20-31) and the Winter Solstice along with MANY others, this is the time when the waxing sun overcomes the waning sun, or the Holly King (representing the old year) is overcome by the Oak King (new year). This is a celebration of fire. The colors are red, green, white and gold. Symbols of Yule are evergreen trees, Yule log, Holly, Eight-Spoked Wheel, wreaths, spinning wheels

Imbolic (February 2): Imbolic, or Candlemass, is about banishing the winter season. This is the time to welcome the spring. The colors of Imbolic are lavender, white, yellow, and pink. Some symbols of Imbolic are candles, the Bride, burrowing animals, the grain dolly,a dn sun wheels.

Ostara (usually March 21 or 22): Or the Spring Equinox, this is when day and night are equal length. This is a fertility festival, and second in the trinity of spring celebrations. The colors of Ostara are pink, yellow, grass green, all pastels, robin's egg blue. The symbols are eggs, the New Moon, and butterflies/cocoons.

Beltane (May 5): Also known as Mayday (May 1), Beltane is the last of the 3 spring fertility festivals.

This is a brief description of some of the tools that are used in the craft. Some of them can be used for the same purpose, so you wont need all of these, or any if you so choose.

The Wand: to project your energy to a certain place, thing, person, or demension. A wand can be made of either wood or copper insulated by leather. I prefer to use wood burned at the tip. When using wood, and if you cut a branch instead of using a dowel, always be sure to ask permission, then thank the tree.

Besom (or broom): can be used for decoration, magick, and ritual. You can "sweep" an area to clear negativity. They are also used to "Jump the Broom" at handfastings or or Beltane celebrations, laid at the gateway of a coven circle, used to send astral messages to friends, and set outside with istructions to make friends with local fairy folk. Also, they can be given names, as brooms can be used as temporary vessels for a particular entity.

Chalice: A symbol of emotion and fertility, they are used in dedication and initiation rites, holiday rituals to honor the God(desse)s. and certain spells

The Pentacle: Most people should know what this looks like. If you don't, a pentacle ia an UPRIGHT 5 pointed star enclosed in a circle. Its basic use is to evoke entities and protection. It can also be used for material gain, and coincides with the Native American Medicine shield or wheel, where each compass direction stands for significant elements and life forces.
